Chocolate dubbed as being a healthy snack?

Let’s see where this snack can get us, how exciting is this? First and foremost let’s start with the basics; chocolate is made of cocoa powder and cocoa butter. The cocoa tree is native to the Americans but also an important commodity of the pre-columbian Mesoamerica and the Spanish chronicles of Mexico, which was later on introduced in Europe, the West Indies and the Philippines.
Chocolate needs its deserved love and respect due to the long process of making them. It is harvested from the tree, cut with the use of a machete. A pod is known to be right for harvesting if it is green in color; otherwise if it is red or orange in color; it is of poor quality and bland in aroma and will then be trashed for industrial chocolate. The process continues as the pulp and seed is separated from the rind then dried for several days. The pulp undergoes a processing called “sweating”, wherein the pulp liquefies while fermenting, causing the seed to be left behind for collection.
There have been so many misconceptions about them. It is actually healthy because it can reduce cardiovascular episodes; like lowering rates of heart disease and cancer. It also improves blood flow, which may also benefit brain and memory use. This is a 15 yr study made by researchers, and some facets are based on comparison to other countries or place that have less or more intake of chocolate consumption. It also helps release endorphins in the brain that causes us to relax more and unwind yet boosts ones appetite if consumed and best of all, it extends our life span.
Thinking twice about chocolates? No need to do so. So next time you indulge in a bar of chocolate, make sure it’s dark chocolate so you take in the highest percentage of cocoa.
