Chocolate is Good for the Broken Hearted

I am a junk food addict; I am a firm believer that potato chips, popcorn, nachos and all similar snacks are part of another food group. My friends and family always bugged me about eating healthy and avoiding foods that are bad for me. It was a good thing that lately there are a number of manufacturers that are continuously trying to find ways on how to at least put some vitamins in the so called “junk food”.

I have tasted some “vitaminized” products and they didn’t taste as bad as I expected so I welcome such discoveries so that my health will not suffer because of my devoted love for my snacks. Imagine reading “healthy chocolate for sale” in supermarkets; wouldn’t that be cool? But come to think of it I never thought that chocolate was really bad for anyone. I read a lot of researches and studies proving that there are a lot of benefits that could be derived from eating chocolates. It was found out that the smell of hot chocolate can stimulate theta brain waves causing relaxation and that chocolates increase antioxidant levels in the blood, among others. So who says that chocolate isn’t good for you?

Personally I have experienced the power of chocolate to heal a person; to heal a broken heart at that. You see my steady boyfriend of seven years dumped me for another woman, so you could imaging how depressed I was and how empty I felt. Nothing and no one could console me at that time; concerned words from friends, inspiring lyrics of songs playing in the radio at the outset didn’t help a bit. Only chocolate did the job, no matter how trivial. After the break up I had a hard time sleeping, I will be in bed for hours but I just stared blankly in the ceiling. Later on I found out that drinking a steaming cup of hot chocolate with marshmallow could calm me down and relaxed me a bit. So who said that junk food is really “junk”?
